The first week
- On freshly re-sanded block paving, avoid turning the wheels of a stationary car — that's what scuffs new joints.
- Don't drag heavy furniture across a freshly cleaned patio.
- If it's been sealed, follow the cure time we give you before parking or heavy use.
Through the year
- Sweep, especially in autumn. Leaf litter left in place turns into the growing medium for next year's algae.
- Keep gullies and drains clear so water leaves the surface instead of sitting on it.
- Cut back overhanging planting that keeps a section permanently shaded and damp.
- Check joint sand once a year and get it topped up if the line has dropped.
- Deal with spills quickly — fresh oil comes out easily, old oil rarely does.
The maintenance cycle
For most properties, a light maintenance treatment between full cleans works out cheaper and looks better than letting the surface deteriorate and paying for a full restoration every few years. Shaded gardens benefit most.
