Almost every homeowner has access to a pressure washer of some kind, and the temptation to save money by doing the drive or patio yourself on a Saturday morning is understandable. The equipment gap between a domestic machine and a professional rotary setup is real, but it's not the only difference that matters.
This isn't about discouraging DIY entirely — light, regular upkeep with a domestic machine has its place. It's about being clear on where the two approaches genuinely diverge, so expectations match the tool being used.
Equipment differences that show up in the result

Sourcing and dosing biocide correctly isn't difficult in principle, but it's a step that's easy to skip when the drive already looks clean after a wash — and it's usually the reason a DIY clean doesn't last as long as expected.
